Series of magnetoresistance oscillations of a two-dimensional electron gas in a strong periodic magnetic modulation

A nonperturbative technique is used to calculate the magnetoresistance of two-dimensional electron gases ~2DEG! subjected to a spatially periodic magnetic field B1 with period a in addition to a uniform magnetic field B0 in the same direction. For small amplitude modulation, magnetoresistance exhibits oscillations similar to the Weiss oscillations observed in 2DEG under spatially periodic elect...

Magnetoresistance of a two-dimensional electron gas in a random magnetic field.

We report magnetoresistance measurements on a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) made from a high mobility GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure, where the externally applied magnetic field was expelled from regions of the semiconductor by means of superconducting lead grains randomly distributed on the surface of the sample. A theoretical explanation in excellent agreement with the experiment is given ...

Linear Magnetoresistance in a Quasifree Two-Dimensional Electron Gas in an Ultrahigh Mobility GaAs Quantum Well.

We report a high-field magnetotransport study of an ultrahigh mobility (μ[over ¯]≈25×10^{6}  cm^{2} V^{-1} s^{-1}) n-type GaAs quantum well. We observe a strikingly large linear magnetoresistance (LMR) up to 33 T with a magnitude of order 10^{5}% onto which quantum oscillations become superimposed in the quantum Hall regime at low temperature. LMR is very often invoked as evidence for exotic qu...
